(More track information from WikiPedia):
"Batdance" is a song by Prince, from the 1989 Batman soundtrack. Helped by the film's popularity, the song reached number one in the U.S., becoming Prince's fourth number-one single, and first since 1986's "Kiss." On Aug. 5, 1989, it knocked Martika's "Toy Soldiers" out of the top spot, but was quickly replaced by Richard Marx ("Right Here Waiting") the very next week. When "Batdance took over the No. 1 spot, another movie soundtrack hit, Bobby Brown's "On Our Own" (from "Ghostbusters 2") was in the runner-up position. "Batdance" was Prince's first single to be issued on compact disc in the U.S.

"Batdance" was a last-minute replacement for a brooding track titled "Dance with the Devil," which Prince felt was too dark. Incidentally, though "Dance with the Devil" remains unreleased, some of the lyrics appear on the album's liner notes.

"Batdance" is almost two songs in one—a chaotic, mechanical dance beat that changes gears into a slinky, funky groove before changing back for the song's conclusion. The track is an amalgam of many musical ideas floating around at the time. No fewer than six songs (some unreleased) contributed to "Batdance": "200 Balloons," "We Got the Power," "House in Order," "Rave Unto the Joy Fantastic," "The Future," and "Electric Chair," and last but not least the 1966 "Batman Theme" by Neal Hefti. Some of these were mere snippets, and other segments showed up only in remixes of the track. The song was also loaded with dialog samples from the film.

The B-side to the single was "200 Balloons," which was recorded for the film and serves as the musical blueprint for the main portion of "Batdance." The song was rejected for the film by Tim Burton and replaced by "Trust." Ironically, the lyrics of "200 Balloons" fit the scene in the film much better than the replacement track. Prince did little more than replace the lyrics of "200 Balloons" in its transition into "Batdance." Some lyrics even survived the transition, and more showed up in "The Batmix." "200 Balloons" also contains samples of "Rave Unto the Joy Fantastic," another song submitted for inclusion in the movie, but rejected (it was replaced by "Partyman").

The 12" single and some CD versions of the single included two remixes of "Batdance" that were done by Mark Moore and William Orbit, "The Batmix" and "Vicki Vale Mix." "The Batmix" focuses on the chaotic "rock" section of "Batdance," and is supplemented with electronic distortion and sampling of voices and instruments. It contains a few new lyrics, as well as more samples of "Rave Unto the Joy Fantastic." The "Vicki Vale Mix" is an extension of the middle part of "Batdance," which includes most of the movie dialog. Prince also adds further lyrics to this version.

Prince : The Future
(1990) 128 kbps / MP3 Format

1. The Future (Remix)
2. Electric Chair (Remix)

(More Track Information from WikiPedia):
"The Future" is a song from Prince's 1989 Batman soundtrack, and the final single released from the album. The single was not the album version, but rather a remix by William Orbit, and released as a single only in Europe. The 7" single was backed with the album version of "Electric Chair," but on the maxi-single, "Electric Chair" was also remixed by Orbit. Both 12-inch remixes add little to the originals, although "The Future" becomes more of a house-record than a Batman tune. Unfortunately, neither the pop charts or the dance floors reacted well to the remixes, and the single charted in only one country. As a result, this would be the last time Orbit would work with Prince for several years.

"Electric Chair", was recorded well before the album concept had begun, being cut in June 1988. Despite this, it fits well into the theme of the movie, and evokes the Joker's madness. The track blends hard rock and funk with a loud, booming drum machine pattern, and aggressive bass and lead guitar wailing throughout. The bridge combines a funky, percussive bass line with a meshed guitar synth phrase.

The LP version of "The Future" features the sampled strings of Clare Fischer lifted from the then unreleased 1986 track "Crystal Ball," and samples of the Sounds of Blackness choir. The song is rather menacing, evoking the theme of the film. The lyrics speak of a bleak future, recalling Gotham City, and that it needs "spirituality that will last."

1. The Arms of Orion (LP Version)
2. Love U In Me
3. The Arms of Orion (Edit)

(More Track Information from WikiPedia:)
"The Arms of Orion" is a slow, romantic duet by Prince and Sheena Easton from the 1989 Batman soundtrack. Released after "Batdance" and "Partyman" had both gone top 20 in UK/U.S. charts, the single never made it past 36 on Billboard's Hot 100. "The Arms of Orion" is a tender but somewhat melodramatic ballad that is accompanied mainly by the piano. Synthesizers also play a strong role throughout the song, programmed to emulate a string section. The track also uses a subdued drum machine loop, and samples of rain and thunder. The lyrics allude to the constellation of Orion, implying that the arms of the figure in the sky are wide enough to hold him and his lover together, although the lovers are far apart.

(More track information from WikiPedia)
"Scandalous" is a smooth, romantic ballad by Prince, released as a single from his 1989 album, the soundtrack to Batman. The song continues a long tradition of Prince's sexually charged ballads, with gasped, passionate vocals on lyrics such as "I can't wait till I can wrap my legs all around U." The track features a drum machine and synthesizers, which sample Clare Fischer's orchestra. The music is attributed to Prince and his father, John L. Nelson.

The Scandalous Sex Suite, released three days later, transforms the song into a three-part suite. "The Crime" is a seductive conversation between Prince and Kim Basinger with various lyrics from the song interspersed. "The Passion" features the main song with new lyrics sung over the original lyrics. "The Rapture" includes a long guitar solo before finishing up the conversation from part one.

The B-side, "Sex," is a minimalist funk number featuring mainly a drum machine loop, a repeated synth hook, and bass guitar. The song lyrics state that safe sex is preferable, and multiple partners can lead to death. The song was co-written with bassist Levi Seacer, Jr. The 7" single received the Lovesexy song, "When 2 R In Love" as its B-side; the song was also included on The Scandalous Sex Suite.

Composer Danny Elfman adapted parts of "Scandalous" into his film score for Batman, where it served as a love theme. "Scandalous" reached No. 5 on the U.S Black Singles chart, but didn't touch the US Hot 100

(Additional Track information from Wikipedia)
"Partyman," which features the vocal performance of "Anna Fantastic," was Prince's follow up to the No. 1 hit "Batdance." The song's accompanying music video is often regarded by fans as one of his finest, again presenting Prince's "Gemini" persona (half-Joker, half-Batman). The song is one of the few on the album that is prominently featured in the movie, acc
ompanying the scene where the Joker and his minions gleefully desecrate the Gotham City Art Museum before meeting Vicki Vale.

The song became the only Batman single to perform better in the UK charts, where it peaked at number 14, as opposed to the U.S. (where it peaked at #18). The upbeat and humorous number features horn samples and his sped-up Camille vocals. The 12" single extends the song to about 6 minutes in length (labeled as the "video mix"), and features the B-side "Feel U Up," a previously unreleased Camille track which would later be available on The Hits/The B-Sides compilation.

"Feel U Up" was originally cut in 1981, but re-recorded in 1986 for the Camille album. Despite being intended for a totally different project, the horn arrangement and vocal style compliment "Partyman" perfectly. The 12" single also included
a "Purple Party Mix," which starts with a string of samples from Prince's earlier hits and contains different lyrics. A track identified as a "music mix" is an instrumental of the "Purple Party Mix."

Grace Jones returns!! I've just learned that Grace Jones is set to release her newest studio album on October 27, 2008. Here is more information from Wikipedia, a track from the new album entitled This Is Life, and a video from the first single Corporate Cannibal. Enjoy!

(More information from Wikipedia):
Hurricane is the upcoming tenth studio album by singer Grace Jones and is to be released on 27 October 2008.

Producer Ivor Guest has confirmed that Jones has completed recording her new album, due out in 2008. Nick Hooker has directed the first video from the upcoming album. Other participants on the new album are Sly and Robbie, Brian Eno, Wally Badarou, Tricky, Uzziah 'Sticky' Thompson, Mikey 'Mao' Chung, Barry Reynolds, John Justin, Martin Slattery, Philip Sheppard, Paulo Goude, Robert Logan, Don-E and Tony Allen, with recording engineering duties by Cameron 'Engine' Craig.

In April 2007, production company Version2 listed "Corporate Cannibal" as the new video directed by Nick Hooker for Jones.

On June 22, 2007, Jones performed in Copenhagen at Tivoli Gardens theme park. Tivoli's website mentioned the title of her new album as "Corporate Cannibal".

The new album will be released on Wall Of Sound Records, with a release date of October 27 in the U.K. At her signing with label, it was announced that album would be named "Hurricane." PIAS, the parent company of Wall Of Sound, will distribute "Hurricane" worldwide, excluding North America.

"Devil in My Life" has been confirmed as one of the songs from the album. Its string arrangements were written by Philip Sheppard and Ant Genn. Robert Logan has created ambient textures and drum edits for "Hurricane."

Jones performed a two hour concert at Massive Attack's Meltdown festival in London on 19 June 2008 during which she performed a four new songs from the album including "This Is Life," a track which has been leaked onto the internet. The music video for "Corporate Cannibal" was premiered at the festival. Recordings can be found on YouTube.
